SMTL started to work with Star Map Press on developing China's nation-wide navigation digital map and acquired the exclusive license to use the map for 20 years; SMTL completed the technical specification of the navigation digital map.
SMTL obtained the preliminary approval from the supervisory authorities for its 10 core navigation technology patents.

SMTL's Product Release Press Conference held in Shanghai Lujiazui Century Hotel on April 24, at which the Maxwell Navi A-100 which combined navigation, anti-theft, GPRS and SMS features and the portable Navi A-200C featuring LCD touch panel and voice guidance were introduced.
SMTL attended the 4th GPS Application and Development Forum & LBS Seminar of China jointly sponsored by China Mobile, China Unicom and China GPS Technical Application Association, China Electronic Equipment Corporation and Beijing Information Industry Association in Beijing on June 8-9 and was invited as a speaker.
SMTL attended the 1st Exhibition of Anti-Terrorist Equipment, Information System Security and Public Security Assurance Technology & Products sponsored by the Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, and demonstrated the latest achievement of its Car Navigation system and ITS research, exploiting possibility of expanding its product application into the police equipment sector.
SMTL and SMP jointly attended the 1st Digital Publication Expo of China sponsored by General Administration of Press & Publication of PRC on July 8-10 and held a press conference on China's Digital Map and People's Passion of Life. Over 50 media agencies were present at the conference. CCTV, Beijing TV and Phoenix TV broadcast live the Expo and press conference, marking the commencement of commercial application of the Navigation Digital Map co-developed by SMTL and SMP after years of R&D and an investment of over RMB100 million. |
